Affiliate disclosure
Last updated: 7 October 2026
Some links on dogyears.info earn us a commission, at no extra cost to you. This page says how that works, in plain English, so you can see it before you click.
We follow the advertising rules that apply to this kind of link in the UK and in the United States. In the UK that is the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) and the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA), including the CAP Code. In the United States it is the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) endorsement guides. Those rules ask for the same thing: if we might earn money from a link, that has to be obvious, in words you can understand, close to the link itself.
The short version
- Some links earn us a commission, at no extra cost to you. If you buy something after clicking, the retailer may pay us a fee. You pay the same price you would have paid by going to that retailer yourself.
- We work with networks such as Awin and Impact. Those companies connect this site to retailers and tell the retailer the visit came from us.
- Affiliate links are clearly labelled. Look for an "Ad" label on the box, a line that says we may earn a commission, and a "How we earn" link back to this page.
- Our content isn't paid for by brands. Breed guides, the calculator and the Royal Kennel Club figures are ours. A brand does not pay us to write them, and a commission does not change the numbers.
- Prices and availability may change. The retailer sets the price, the offer and whether something is in stock. Any of those can change after we publish a page.
What an affiliate link is
An affiliate link is an ordinary link to another company's website, with a tracking code so that company can see the visit came from dogyears.info. If you then buy, we may earn a commission. If you do not buy, we earn nothing from that click. Clicking does not sign you up for anything by itself.
The commission is paid by the retailer or by the network. It is not added on top of the price you see.
How you can spot one
The label sits with the link, not only in this page:
- An Ad label on the box.
- A short line that says we may earn a commission, at no extra cost to you.
- A How we earn link beside the box. It opens this page.
- An Affiliate disclosure link in the footer.
A link that is not labelled in that way is an ordinary link — for example to The Royal Kennel Club, or to another page on this site. We do not earn a commission from those.
Who we work with
We take part in programmes run through affiliate networks such as Awin and Impact. Which offer you see depends on the page, and on the country you are visiting from. If we have not joined a programme for your country, we hide that box rather than show a link that does not apply.
Where a programme is live, the box names the retailer. For visitors in the UK, that currently includes VetBox, a flea, tick and worm treatment posted to your door. We may add or drop a retailer. We are not the seller. The purchase is between you and the retailer, on their terms.
Our content isn't paid for by brands
Dog Years is an independent site. The age figures come from The Royal Kennel Club's guidance, as published via Purina UK. Brands do not commission our guides, and they do not get to change the calculator.
We only put an affiliate link where the product fits the page — for example, parasite treatment on a care guide. A commission does not decide which breed facts we publish, and it does not change a dog's age in human years. If we ever publish a piece a brand has paid for, we will say so on that page in the same clear way. We do not do that today.
Prices and availability may change
Prices, discounts, delivery and stock are set by the retailer and can change without notice. A price or offer you saw here may not match the retailer's page when you get there. A product can sell out. Please read the price, the terms and the returns policy on the retailer's site before you buy. We are not responsible for their checkout, delivery or customer service.
Tracking
After you click an affiliate link, the network or the retailer may use their own cookies to record that the visit came from this site. On our pages, Awin's on-page tracking script loads only if you allow advertising cookies. You can refuse those cookies and the links still work. How that choice is stored is covered in our Privacy Policy.
